Hold on to your Hats and grab your jackets! The springtime winds are here and howling.
The Officers and Board are working on many exciting new projects and activities for this coming year.
The next Explora Museum's Adult Night will be May 18 from 6:30 PM to 10 PM. Their theme is 'Under the Microscope.'
We will complement the theme at Explora's Adult Nights with our stations' activities and displays throughout the year.
The Westside Kiwanis Club has scheduled a Family Kite Day for Sunday, May 20 at Mariposa Basin Park in NW Albuquerque.
We will set up radios and assist with mobile communications via HT's.
A Family Picnic Day is being planned plus Field Day and Kids Day.
The Fall Tailgate is in the planning stage for Veterans' Day Weekend.
We will collect toys, coats, and blankets to donate to APD at the November meeting.
Don't miss our booth at Balloon Fiesta in October, nor the Holiday Party in December.
Please submit any ideas you have for future activities to our president, Larry Elkin, NY5L.

The Club Lunch on May 5 at the Fat Squirrel was a blast! Great job, Kathey and Karen.



VE Testing is available the third Saturday of every month in the Community Room of APD Northwest Area Command Station.

Congratulations to the HAM's who took tests on April 21. There were 9 test takers and here's the results:
New Technicians: Donald Bush, James Fries, and Christopher Kunz.
New Generals: David Kunz and Ryan Mitchell.
New Extras: James Nowell, KD5AQW; David Padilla, KE5GNL; and Frank Reid, WB5EGD.
Extra class New HAM: James Stephens.


Welcome to our new club members, Rome Armijo, KF5BNF, Keith Koepke, KF5PCY, Chris Behl, KF5PMU, who just got his callsign and a new radio, and brand new HAM Extra class, James Stephens. We also welcome Dale Staben, KF5PKC, Barbara Fox, and Bob Kmak, K5WO.


The next regular meeting of HDARC will be on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 7 PM.
We meet in the Community Room of the APD Northwest Area Command station.

We will be voting on the By-Law changes at this meeting. Please come and share your opinions and vote.

Wednesday afternoon coffee around 1 PM and Thursday morning breakfast around 8 AM
are held at the Flying Star Restaurant on Corrales Rd just north of Alameda (NM 528).
Please join us for a good time.

The club now has three repeaters available on VHF and UHF bands.

Two meter: 145.370 neg. offset P/L tone 162.2 Hz IRLP Node 7706.
1.25 meter: 224.480 neg. offset no tone IRLP Node 3285.
70 cm.: 442.750 pos. offset P/L tone 162.2 Hz IRLP Node 7855.

They will be linked with IRLP reflector 9221 during the net.


Please join the New HAM's Net at 7:30 PM Wednesday evenings on any of the repeaters above.
This is a net for new HAM's to become familiar with operating their radios and to get help on the air. Everyone is welcome.

THE PURPOSE OF OUR CLUB:
HIGH DESERT AMATEUR RADIO CLUB OF NEW MEXICO
It shall be our purpose to further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge and individual operating efficiency, and to conduct club programs and activities so as to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the community.
